More recent iterations of RFB contain more advanced compression, security, and file transfer features. RFB is used is Virtual Network Computing, and while it has great flexibility as it pixel-based, other protocols such as RDP have a greater understanding of the desktop and send simpler, higher-level commands. The most commonly known RFB client program is VNC (Virtual Network Connections).
